Forever the artist, Jim Brancaccio continues to explore and combine various printmaking processes and collage techniques. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1941, but has lived in Lexington, Kentucky since 1955. After graduation from Transylvania University, Jim taught high school English in Ohio for five years. When he moved back to Lexington, he returned to his love of creating art. Jim took local art classes, exhibited with The Lexington Art League, and became known for his colorful collages.

In 1971 Jim became a framer for Collectors’ Gallery. From there he worked at The Living Arts and Science Center (LASC), a non-profit organization that offers art and science classes and exhibits. 1988 saw Jim become LASC’s gallery director. During his time at LASC he had three major one man exhibits and participated in a number of group shows. Upon his retirement in 2006, LASC mounted a large retrospective of his work.

Jim spends extensive time in his studio focusing on building artwork through printmaking (etching, collagraphy, relief printing, stencils, mono types) and collage techniques. The multiple images made through printmaking and the proofs are great sources for collage work.
