Giles Prett

Giles Prett, technologist and photographer

Giles Prett began working with photography at the age of six when he would join his father for weekend trips around England. After high school Giles continued his passion and studied Fine Art Photography at the University of Derby (England) where he earned a B.A. (hons) in 1993. Finding work in the photographic industry was hard, but at the age of 25, Giles took a job as a photographer in the cruise line industry. After moving to the U.S. he found work as the staff photographer for a small independent publishing company specializing in gardening and outdoor living books.

During this time, as digital imaging and printing technologies became more available, his fascination with the technology drove him to learn the pre-press side of the business including color management and wide format inkjet printing. Later, he continued to pursue his fascination with digital imaging and took a job developing museum grade fine art and photographic inkjet papers at a Massachusetts paper manufacturer.

Today, Giles’ photography is primarily a personal escape as his career has evolved into other technical fields.  However, his passion for printmaking and photography continue to inspire him to create new works and where possible, share in knowledge and passion for digital printing by teaching others the art.
