At the heart of every Faulkner story, legend, and tall tale, are the paintings of Henry Lawrence Faulkner, the legacy of an orphan from rural Kentucky who painted as vividly as he lived. The best ending to a Faulkner story has always been the right to utter, in a hushed and happy way, “… and I have one of Henry’s paintings. Would you like to see it?” These are some of his sketches.
