Father Norman Fischer was a talented artist and a Catholic priest in the Diocese of Lexington, KY. He was inspired by the beauty of Kentucky nature while growing up in Perryville, and his love for Christian art was simply reinforced through his Catholic upbringing and the beautiful sights of Catholic Churches, Cathedrals, and religious iconography.
While attending Centre College, Father Norman double-majored in both Art and Psychology. He studied art under the important and gifted artists, Sheldon Tapley and Stephen Rolfe Powell. While his faith led him to seminary and he served as a priest, Father Fischer still found great joy in sharing his creative artistry with new venues, such as hosting “Artist Retreats,” donating his art for certain projects, and seeing his art go to other special collections like the late St. John Paul The Great in Jubilee Year 2000.
Father Norman believed everyone had the gift of beauty and could at least appreciate it, if not express it artistically, as we all are made by the same author of love and beauty. His favorite mediums were acrylic paints, charcoal, and paper collage.
