Stephen Sebree brings absolute precision to his linoleum cut prints, establishing himself as a technical master in the printmaking medium. His work reflects both attention to detail and profound creative vision. Sebree’s prints showcase an ability to capture the personality of his avian subjects through the bold contrasts and clean lines characteristic of relief printing.
Following his early career as an art director for the Courier-Journal Newspaper in Louisville, he opened his freelance graphic design business, Moonlight Graphic Works. After designing and illustrating projects for clients all over the country for over 40 years, he has recently retired the business and have begun a new chapter of creativity in printmaking, primarily relief printing using linoleum.
Sebree has a collection of prints completed and many others in various stages with a variety of subject matter. The subjects for his prints come from many places. But his state – Kentucky, is one of the most significant sources of inspiration. From its incredible natural beauty, to its historic locations to the amazing variety of its native wildlife, he doesn’t have to go too far from home to find “picture perfect” ideas.
