Good Friday

Three Shades of Trillium

It was “Good Friday”

Forty-five years ago I went down to Boot Hill in Athens Ky to meet John Jacob Niles in his studio. He played his dulcimer and sang to me in falsetto … I wonder as I wander … a hymn he wrote. Here is the first verse.

I wonder as I wander out under the sky,
How Jesus the Savior did come for to die.
For poor on’ry people like you and like I…
I wonder as I wander out under the sky.

Today, I wandered across these three Trillium. This variety of Trillium blooms in our Appalachia, it blossoms white then turns pink and ages in to magenta before it fades away… only to come again next spring.
